The battle over an arena for the Sacramento Kings has taken yet another unpleasant turn. Chris Lehane, executive director of Think Big Sacramento committee established by Mayor Kevin Johnson, has asked U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate the Maloof brothers who own the team. In response, Eric W. Rose, the Maloofs’ spokesman, issued a statement on their behalf Monday night: “It is becoming clearer that the foundation of Think Big is built on fabrication and deception. The name of the organization should be changed to Think Big Fraud.”

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — The New Orleans Hornets will continue receiving a tax break that saves the NBA team $37 million over 10 years.

The Senate sent the tax break bill to the governor’s desk Monday with a 28-7 vote. The measure, supported by Gov. Bobby Jindal, is part of the state’s deal to the keep the Hornets in Louisiana and a piece of the agreement with new team owner Tom Benson, who also owns the New Orleans Saints.
