Mark Dayton said he’s sorry he compared NFL players in trouble with the law to returning war veterans…In that interview, Dayton theorized on the troubles of professional football players including Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and said that football was “basically slightly civilized war.” Dayton said, “I regret my mistake, and I apologize for it.”

U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) is urging the International Olympic Committee to allow Guor Marial, who went to high school in Concord, to run in the Olympics as an independent athlete. A teenage refugee from Sudan’s civil war, Marial…has qualified for the Olympics but has refused to compete on behalf of Sudan, where he lost 28 family members in the civil war. Marial is a 2005 graduate of Concord High School and says he considers New Hampshire to be his home state.
